Winter Wonderland – One on One Photography Mentoring

March 1, 2017

In case you didn’t know, the Netherlands is flat (it also sits below sea level in a lot of areas, but that’s a conversation for another blog post). We have no mountains to hike, but we have plenty of wide open fields and forests scattered throughout the country to explore. There’s no better way to spend a winter day after being stuck inside, hiding from bad weather, than with an adventure with the kiddos. While these flat lands don’t offer many exciting views, the kids are able to walk and run off on their own without me waiting for them to roll down the side of a mountain. I just need to worry about the canals. Those puppies are everywhere.

Our .5 mile “hike” took us approximately one hour. As you can see, the kids are easily distracted. There was old snow to eat, acorns to collect and sticks to throw. Under the tree cover, we found frozen puddles and attempted to ice skate. Unsuccessfully. And as we were walking back to the car, Arlo found a really nice looking runner that he wanted to go home with instead. The kid has no fear.
