This week the rain subsided and the sun came back out for its final stretch before winter. Silas and I took advantage of the nice weather with a trip to the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium here in Tacoma with some friends. My child is currently obsessed with fish and kitties. Lucky for him, we found plenty of fish, sea otters, manatees and seals, all of which are in fact fish if you ask a toddler. When we arrived at the shark exhibit, we were a little bit surprised to find people in the tank alongside the sharks. The zoo is now offering opportunities for visitors to swim with the sharks and we were there to see a demonstration being held for the local news which was pretty neat. From there we hung out with a tiger cub who got awfully playful with the tots and some monkeys who put on a little show for us right by the glass. Before heading out, we made sure to see the Clouded Leopard cubs who Silas simply referred to as kitty cats. He’s basically right you know.
It ended up being a really beautiful day, perfect for a trip like this, though I don’t think the kids will mind the rain in a few months if it means they get to go to the zoo again.
