August and the first week of September marked two things this year:
It ended up being a hodgepodge of a month for us. Summertime out here is the rainy season so while the boys and I had lots of free time that we hoped to spend at the beach, our plans were thwarted more often than not. But, we don’t melt in the rain anymore so we still attempted some outdoor events and beach days in between plenty of lazy days inside (with ice cold ac). Silas started school a couple of weeks ago and his first morning was full of whining and dragging and sleepy eyes. After I finish typing this, I’ll be dropping Arlo off on his first day of preK. He’s been asking me every 10 minutes how much longer until he gets to go to school. I think he’s excited (me too, kid).
We spent the rest of our weekends cleaning and nesting. Yes, my husband has been nesting as badly as I have. The dust underneath our bed was reallllly bugging him and HAD to be cleaned before this baby is allowed to come. Just this past weekend we finally crossed the last thing off of our giant To Do list (with honestly, some pretty ridiculous things on there I will admit) and it was SO satisfying. For being nine months pregnant, I still feel pretty good physically and emotionally, definitely tired and oh hey, the nausea has come back, but still not ‘done’ yet. I’m due next week and I still have a hard time wrapping my head around giving birth and having another brand new baby in this family again. Maybe once baby is here it’ll finally sink in.
